Sachertorte (UK: , US: , German: [ˈzaxɐˌtɔʁtə] (listen)) is a chocolate cake, or torte, of Austrian origin, invented by Franz Sacher, supposedly in 1832 for Prince Metternich in Vienna. It is one of the most famous Viennese culinary specialties.
